Kathy
Fraychineaud is fifth generation in a deaf family, and is a
native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from the
Louisiana School for the Deaf in Baton Rouge.
Kathy earned her Master’s degree in Sign Language Studies
from the University of Arizona. She also holds the "professional"
certificate granted by ASLTA (American Sign Language Teacher
Association) and she is an associate member with the National
Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf working towards her CDI
(Certificate Deaf Interpreter). Kathy has worked in the field
of Deafness for over 25 years in a variety of capacities
including as an interpreter, educator, consultant, and
presenter.
Kathy is currently working at Pima Community College as an
American Sign Language Instructional Faculty. In addition,
Kathy is the owner of the Southwest Center of (ASL) American
Sign Language Studies since
1999. SWC of ASL Studies is
providing a variety of educational workshops and trainings. Kathy is enthusiastic and she enjoys facilitating and supporting
the opportunity for community members to work and grow
professionally in order to better serve the needs of the deaf
community.
